The Six Pillars

What We Measure — And How

Every casino is scored across six independent metrics. Each one measures something different, uses different data sources, and is calculated by its own formula. Here's exactly what goes into every score.

TRS30% of ORS

Trust & Reliability Score

Evaluates a casino's licensing strength, Terms & Conditions fairness, and customer support — the three pillars of trust.

TRS =License Score 50%+Terms Fairness 45%+Customer Support 5%
License Score50% of TRS

Each license jurisdiction has an individual weight assigned by our analysts based on regulatory oversight, consumer protection strength, dispute resolution mechanisms, and audit requirements. Higher weight = stronger consumer protection.

The casino's license score equals the highest weight among all its verified licenses. Multiple licenses don't stack — only the strongest one counts.

Terms Fairness Score45% of TRS

Our automated parser scans every casino's Terms & Conditions for red and yellow flags. Score starts at 100 — penalties are subtracted for each issue found.

Yellow flag penalty (restrictive clauses)1 pts

Weekly monitoring & snapshots

We save a full snapshot of every casino's T&C weekly. When terms change, we automatically re-scan and update the score. Historical snapshots are stored so we can track how terms evolve over time.

Customer Support Score5% of TRS

Customer support is scored as a simple checklist of 5 equally weighted flags. Each flag is worth 20 points (total = 100). We manually verify each one for every casino.

Fair Bonuses Score

Measures the real, withdrawable value of casino bonuses — not just the flashy number on the banner.

FBS =Value 60%+Terms 40%

Best welcome bonus (or best of any type if none). Each individual bonus is scored, then one brand-level FBS is computed.

Value Assessment60% of FBS

We break down the actual monetary value of each bonus into weighted components. Each component is scaled 0–100 using its own best/worst thresholds. Only fields that are present contribute — missing data doesn't drag the score down.

Automatic currency normalisation

All monetary bonus values (bonus cap, min deposit, max cashout, max bet, free spin value) are automatically converted to AUD before scoring. When a bonus is denominated in a different currency (e.g. USD, EUR, BTC), the system applies the current exchange rate to ensure a fair, apples-to-apples comparison. Exchange rates are fetched weekly by our automated pipeline and stored per currency, so scores always reflect up-to-date market conditions.

Bonus conditions determine whether you'll actually be able to withdraw winnings. We evaluate wagering difficulty, cashout limits, bet restrictions, minimum deposit, and how much time you get to meet the requirements.

All AUD thresholds above account for currency conversion — a €500 max cashout is converted to its AUD equivalent using the latest weekly exchange rate before comparison
Wagering Base Difficulty

The same wagering multiplier can be much harder depending on what it's applied to. We multiply the stated wagering by a difficulty coefficient to get the effective wagering requirement.

Example: 30x on Deposit + Bonus (×2.0) = effective 60x wagering. Same 30x on Bonus only (×1.0) = effective 30x.

Customer Reviews Aggregated

Combines player ratings from CasinoAudit and independent review platforms into a single weighted score that reflects real player experiences.

CRA =CasinoAudit Reviews 5%+External Platforms 95%
How CRA is calculated

CRA is a weighted combination of two independent data sources: player reviews submitted directly to CasinoAudit and ratings collected from major independent review platforms across the internet.

Formula

CRA = ( 5 × InternalScore + 95 × ExternalScore ) / 100

■ CasinoAudit 5%■ External platforms 95%

If one source has no data (e.g. no internal reviews yet), the remaining source automatically takes 100% of the weight.

CasinoAudit Reviews5% of CRA

Players rate casinos directly on CasinoAudit on a scale of 1–100. The internal score is the simple average of all eligible ratings. This score is then capped based on how many reviews exist — a casino with just 1 or 2 reviews cannot reach the maximum score, regardless of how high the ratings are.

Internal Score

InternalScore = min( avg(ratings), volume_cap )

Ratings are on a 1–100 scale — players choose their exact score
Only published and moderated reviews are counted
Volume caps prevent score inflation from a small number of reviews
Volume caps (more reviews = higher possible score)

To prevent a single 100/100 review from giving a casino a perfect score, we cap the internal score based on the total number of eligible reviews. As more real players leave reviews, the cap increases.

External Platform Ratings95% of CRA

We collect ratings from independent review platforms to get a broader picture of player satisfaction. Each platform uses its own scale (some use 1–5, others 1–10 or 1–100), so we normalize every rating to a 0–100 range before averaging.

External Score

ExternalScore = avg( source_rating / scale_max × 100 )

Each source is normalized to the same 0–100 scale for fair comparison
All sources are weighted equally — no single platform dominates
Ratings are updated periodically and tracked over time

External sources tracked (7):

New sources are discovered and added automatically as they become available. Not every casino will have ratings on every platform.

Accuracy & transparency
Accuracy notice

External platform ratings may be subject to inaccuracy of up to 10% due to differences in rating scales, review moderation policies, and update frequency. These ratings are provided for reference and should not be treated as exact measures.

We do not link to external platforms or drive traffic away from CasinoAudit
Blacklisted or unreliable sources are excluded from the calculation
CRA is recalculated automatically after every data update

The Rating Pipeline

How a Casino Gets Rated

From the moment we discover a new casino to the day you read its score — here's every step of the process. No shortcuts, no paid fast-tracks.

1
Discovery & Screening
Our team identifies new casinos accepting Australian players. Before entering the system, each casino passes an initial screening — we verify the operator's identity, check for active licenses, and confirm the site is functional.
Casinos without any verifiable license are flagged but may still be rated with appropriate warnings.
2
Data Collection
Our automated crawlers collect data from every relevant source: license registries, the casino's Terms & Conditions, bonus pages, payment methods, payout processing times, and support availability.
T&C snapshots are saved weekly. Bonus data, payment options, and support flags are refreshed continuously.
3
Automated Scoring
Raw data passes through our rating engine. Each of the six metrics (TRS, FBS, PSS, PCV, UXS, CRA) is calculated independently using its own formula with predefined weights and thresholds.
No manual score adjustments. The formula is the same for every casino — no exceptions, no overrides.
4
Quality Review
Our analysts review the output for anomalies. If a score looks unusual — for example, a well-known operator scoring below 30 — we investigate the data, not change the score.
Editors add context and write review content around the numbers. They never modify the calculated scores.
5
Publication
The casino profile goes live with its full score breakdown, all six metric details, bonus analysis, and payment information. Players can see exactly how every point was earned.
Every published score includes a full transparency breakdown visible on the casino's review page.
6
Continuous Monitoring
After publication, monitoring never stops. T&C changes trigger automatic re-scans. License status is checked against regulator databases. Review aggregates update weekly. Scores recalculate in real time.
If a casino loses its license or makes predatory T&C changes, the score drops automatically — no manual intervention needed.
Ratings are never final. Every score is a living number that changes as new data comes in. If a casino improves its payout speed, adds PayID, or fixes predatory T&C clauses — its score goes up automatically. The reverse is also true.
Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how we evaluate, score, and monitor online casinos — and why you can trust the results.

The ORS is a weighted average of six independent pillars: Trust & Reliability (TRS), Fair Bonuses (FBS), Payout Speed (PSS), Payment Convenience (PCV), UX & Mobile (UXS), and Customer Reviews (CRA). Each pillar is scored from 0 to 100, and the weights are configured by our editorial team to reflect what matters most to Australian players. The final ORS gives you a single, transparent number you can compare across casinos.
TRS measures how trustworthy a casino is based on its licensing authority, the fairness of its terms and conditions, and the quality of its customer support. A casino licensed by UKGC or MGA scores higher than one with only a Curaçao licence. We also run regular automated snapshots of each casino's T&C pages to detect silent changes — something no other review site does.
FBS evaluates each bonus on four factors: real monetary value (percent match, cap amount, free spins), wagering requirements and their base (deposit-only vs deposit+bonus), term quality (max bet limits, game restrictions, expiry), and any penalty clauses. A 100% up to $500 bonus with 60x wagering will score far lower than a 50% bonus with 20x. We calculate expected value mathematically, not subjectively.
We score Payout Speed (PSS) based on the casino's documented withdrawal processing time. Instant to under 12 hours scores highest, while anything over 7 days scores near zero. We verify this against real withdrawal data and player reports rather than relying on the casino's own marketing claims.
UXS combines automated Google Lighthouse audits (performance, accessibility, best practices, SEO) run directly on each casino's website, plus our manual evaluation of mobile usability — navigation, registration flow, lobby layout, and game loading speed. The Lighthouse scores are updated regularly and stored in our database, so you always see current data, not a one-time snapshot.
No. Ratings are calculated algorithmically from objective data points. Casinos cannot pay to improve their score. Our affiliate relationships (marked with "Visit Casino" links) are completely separate from the scoring system — a casino with a poor TRS score will display that score regardless of whether we earn a commission if you click through.
Core data like bonus terms, payout speeds, and payment methods is reviewed whenever we detect a change or receive a verified report. Lighthouse UX scores are re-run automatically on a rolling schedule. T&C snapshots are taken weekly. The "Last reviewed" date on each casino page reflects the most recent data update.
Reputation and marketing don't affect our score. A well-known brand that imposes a 1x max bet during bonus wagering, restricts withdrawals to $2,000/month, or uses a weak licence will score lower than a lesser-known casino that doesn't. We score what's actually in the terms, not what's in the ads.
PCV measures how many relevant payment methods a casino supports, weighted by tier. Tier 1 includes major options for Australian players — POLi, PayID, Visa/Mastercard, PayPal. Tier 2 covers e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller. Tier 3 covers crypto and niche methods. A casino that supports all Tier 1 options scores higher than one that only accepts crypto, even if that crypto casino has faster payouts.
CRA aggregates verified reviews from multiple external platforms, normalises the ratings to a 0–100 scale, and weights them by review count and recency. A casino with 500 reviews averaging 3.8 stars carries more weight than one with 12 reviews averaging 4.9. We also apply a credibility filter to reduce the impact of obvious review manipulation.
